Sleep 2008The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is a professional society dedicated to sleep medicine. As the leading voice in the field of sleep medicine, the AASM sets standards and promotes excellence in health care, education, and research. Each year, the Associated Professional Sleep Societies, a joint venture of the AASM and the Sleep Research Society, hosts the SLEEP Annual Meeting, which attracts the largest audience of sleep specialists in the nation and focuses solely on sleep medicine and sleep research. One aspect of this is the treatment of insomnia through behavioral medicine. This year, the AASM is launching a program to encourage interest and awareness in behavioral sleep medicine. To this end, 50 registration fee waivers for SLEEP 2008 will be given to interested members of the organizations listed below who are first-time attendees of SLEEP. A BSM Introductory Seminar has also been created and will be presented at the SLEEP 2008 Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland in June.
