Student Program for Division 38 at the Annual APA Convention
San Francisco, CA, August 17-20
We would like to invite students who are interested in health psychology to attend the student program for Division 38. Two events will be held in consecutive hours in the San Francisco Hilton hotel on Sunday, August 19th (see details below).
During the first hour, we will have prominent speakers from various career paths within health psychology speak to us about preparing for careers in each of their specific areas (e.g., academia, clinical research, VA career, academic medical center, private practice, and potentially pediatrics). Following brief presentations from each speaker, there will be a panel discussion during which students will have the opportunity to ask career development questions of the speakers. This program will take place in Continental Parlor 8 in the San Francisco Hilton from 3:00-3:50 p.m.
The second part of the student program will take place immediately following the panel discussion and will be a social (complete with food and drink) from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Division 38 Hospitality Suite in the Hilton (see hotel lobby for suite location). There will be representatives from internship and postdoctoral training programs in health psychology, who will be available to talk with you about their training programs. This will be a great opportunity to make personal connections with representatives from these programs, and as many of you know, it’s all about contacts!
If you will be at the conference, please make a plan to attend the student programming. Be sure to tell your friends and colleagues about the programming as well, as membership in Division 38 is not necessary to take advantage of these opportunities. Please feel free to contact us with any questions. We look forward to seeing you in San Francisco this summer!
